Wheelybugs was set up in 1995, inspired by a 1 year boy riding his toy dump truck which had straight ahead wheels. He would happily push along until he met an obstacle then scream until someone physically pointed him in another direction.
The idea to make a ride-on-toy with castors so that little ones could easily direct themselves was born! The designers initially thought of making a truck or motorcycle but wanted it to be non-gender specific so came up with the idea of an animal....a colourful animal....a Ladybug!
A prototype quickly followed, was tested and production (under their house!) began. Wheelybugs grew by word of mouth across the Australian retail market. In 2000, they launched on the international market, bringing us the range of wonderful designs which you see here.
At TMB, we love robust design, good quality materials and long-lasting wooden toys that don't end up on the plastic pile in less than the year - Wheelybugs are exactly the tyoe of toys we're looking to promote!
